Why Me for Cumberland Council?
My wife and I are committed to living here for the rest of our lives, and I want Cumberland to be a place where we, along with you, can thrive as we age. It should also be a place where our children can live, learn, work, and prosper, if they choose to.
Over the past fifteen years I’ve actively engaged in various volunteer and community service roles, just like many of you. With my knowledge and skills, I believe it’s time to contribute further by serving on the Council.
Cumberland holds a special place in our hearts. It’s a unique community, rich in spirit, and while it means something different to each of us, we all share a common desire to preserve and enhance what makes it so special.
I’ve been deeply involved in Village life, serving on the Boards of the Cumberland Community Schools Society and the Chamber of Commerce, starting the Cumberland Matters blog and Facebook page, and opening local businesses like the Wandering Moose Cafe and The Update Company. My work on council committees, including the Official Community Plan (OCP) and Economic Development, and chairing the Advisory Planning Commission, reflects my dedication to our community. Additionally, I serve on the Board of the Dawn to Dawn Action on Homelessness Society and have contributed to projects like the Skatepark and the CCSS’s Thunderballs fundraiser.
Through these experiences, I’ve built strong relationships with mayors, councilors, village staff, and community leaders, and I’m honored to call many of them friends. I recognise that we live on unceded territory, and I treasure my conversations, work, and friendships with members of the Indigenous community.
Cumberland is a vibrant, special place with a strong sense of community. We face many challenges, but by listening to each other and working together, we can create a just and equitable environment for everyone. I humbly ask for your support in this journey, and I pledge to serve with integrity, humility, and enthusiasm.
Together, let’s keep Cumberland thriving.
